At Hüma, we realized that sometimes athletes need additional electrolytes. So we added the PLUS gels to our lineup—doubling the amount of electrolytes in a single energy gel. The perfect way to replace sports drinks and other electrolyte replacements that aren't all-natural and don't taste as good.

SCIENTFIC FORMULATION

We exhaustively reviewed the scientific research and pestered sports nutritionists to get answers to the big questions: what are the ideal amounts per serving? What's the ideal ratio? And will this make us better looking? (answer: maybe, if you're really dehydrated)

Once we had answers to what we needed, we then applied the same obsessive focus on the question of how we could get it.

What's the difference between PLUS and Original?

Same formula, same carbs (24–25g). PLUS has double the electrolytes — for heavy sweating, heat, long efforts, or if you tend to cramp. For moderate conditions and shorter distances, Original is enough.

When and how often should I take a PLUS gel?

Take one 15 minutes before exercise, then one every 30–45 minutes during. Most athletes use 1–3 gels per hour depending on how hard and how long you're going.

What does it taste and feel like?

Same smooth applesauce-like texture as Original. Slightly saltier from the extra electrolytes — a good thing on long runs when your body's already losing salt.

How many carbohydrates and calories per gel?

24–25g of carbohydrates and 100 calories per pouch — same as Original.

Which PLUS flavors contain caffeine, and how much?

Strawberry Lemonade, Lemon Lime, and Chocolate Peanut Butter each have 25mg. All other PLUS flavors are caffeine-free.

How does Hüma compare to other energy gels?

The main difference is the source. Most gels rely on processed carbohydrates — maltodextrin, dextrose, fructose. Hüma uses real food: fruit purée, brown rice syrup, cane sugar, chia seeds, sea salt.

Does PLUS contain peanuts or other common allergens?

PLUS Chocolate Peanut Butter contains peanuts. All other PLUS flavors are peanut-free, tree nut-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and gluten-free.

Is PLUS vegan and gluten-free?

Yes. Every PLUS flavor is vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free — no artificial flavors, sweeteners, or colors.

Do I need to take PLUS with water?
